Meet Our Leadership Team
Peg Harriott serves as President and CEO and oversees the agency’s administration, programming and services, financing, and fundraising. Harriott, who served in leadership positions at Uta Halee from 1978 to 1999 and as the Executive Director of Omaha’s YWCA from 1999 - 2008, brings a wealth of experience working with children, youth and families in crisis as well as nonprofit management.
Ms. Harriott has a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She received the UNO College of Business Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 2005. An Omaha Benson High School Graduate, she was inducted into the Benson Hall of Fame in April 2008.

Lisa Blunt joined CSI in 1998 and has served in a variety of positions including Therapy and Support Director and Director of Child Welfare Services. She was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer in October 2010. The COO oversees the agency’s programs and services.
Lisa is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Master’s of Science in Community Counseling. Prior to joining CSI, she worked in private practice, specializing in the treatment of children and families with a focus on early childhood and attachment issues. She also served for six years on the staff of Uta Halee/Cooper Village.
Asked her goals for her position, Lisa noted, “I want CSI to continue to be known as a leader in the child welfare community, and that means our services have to continue to grow and change with emerging research and community needs.”

Sue Baumert began working as Chief Financial Officer for CSI in July 2005. She grew up in Lincoln and North Platte and attended the University of Nebraska where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Professional Accountancy. Sue began her professional career at Kennedy and Coe, CPA's in Goodland, Kansas. After four years she moved to Omaha and worked at the University of Nebraska Omaha for 14 years, the first six in internal audit and the last eight as the Director of Business for Athletics. Sue is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants, the Nebraska Society of Public Accountants and the American Society of Women Accountants.

Dawn Hovey joined Child Saving Institute in September 2014 as the Chief Development Director.
She previously served as the first President and CEO of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF) in Council Bluffs, Iowa. During her tenure at PCCF, Dawn led this start-up agency to assets of almost $10 million and accreditation for meeting the national standards set through the Council on Foundations.
Dawn holds a Bachelor of Political Science degree and a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Health Care and Finance from Kansas State University.
An avid supporter of community and philanthropy, Dawn has been working in the field for over 20 years holding positions in private, corporate and community philanthropic institutions in Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council on Foundations and serves as an officer in her neighborhood association.

Jana joined Child Saving Institute in 1993 and has served in various roles in the Early Childhood Education Program. Jana served as the Coordinator of Early Childhood Education for seven years prior to being promoted in February of 2012 to her current position, Director of Early Childhood Mental Health Services.
Jana graduated with a Bachelors in Family Studies from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and obtained her Masters Certificate in Infant Toddler Mental Health from Portland State University. She served on the Omaha Association for the Education of Young Children’s Board of Directors from 2006-2010. Jana is passionately committed to helping our community’s children develop their social/emotional skills to their fullest potential in order to prepare them for all that school—and life—has to offer.

Heather joined CSI in 2000 and currently serves as the Director of Human Resources. She facilitates all Human Resources functions of the agency including Human Resources administration, employment, performance management and benefits, as well as oversees the volunteer and training functions. She also serves as a Safety Officer for the agency.
Heather received a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from the Krannert Graduate School of Management, and a Master's Degree in School Psychology and a School Psychology Certificate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is a member of the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands Personnel Committee and is a member of the Human Resources Association of the Midlands.

Lana Verbrigghe joined Child Saving Institute in 2011 and serves as the Director of Child Welfare Services. Prior to her position at CSI, Lana worked for eight years for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services under the division of Children and Family Services. Lana brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the area of child welfare.
Lana is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Children and Family Services; she obtained her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Lana serves as an officer in her neighborhood association and keeps involved in community events.

Jude Connelly is Child Saving Institute’s new Director of Prevention Services. Most recently, he served as the Statewide Administrator of Community Services at Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska overseeing Refugee and Immigration services across the state as well as the LFS AmeriCorps Program. Prior to his leadership experience at Lutheran Family Services, Jude was a manager at a community-based outpatient program in Washington State, as well as program director at a 90 bed residential treatment center for adolescents in Omaha.
Jude has specialized training in trauma-related issues including the impact of trauma on consumers, organizations, and the community. Jude has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and Bachelor’s degrees from Creighton University in Social Work and Psychology. He is a Licensed Mental Health Professional and Certified Social Worker.

Mary Finney-Afrank joined Child Saving Institute in 2015 and serves as the Director of Early Childhood Education . Mary’s experience in Early Childhood Education includes her most recent work of providing training and technical assistance to Early Head Start and Head Start programs across Nebraska. She held this position for over six and a half years. She also has operated Early Head Start and Head Start programs for eleven years. She has experience with Child Care Licensing and Child Care Subsidy. Early in her career, Mary worked with at risk youth.
Her education includes a Master of Science in Education with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a minor in Education and a minor in Sociology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Mary also has taken Early Childhood Special Education courses and served on the Nebraska Interagency Coordinating Council.

Sandy Heather joined Child Saving Institute in 2009 and serves as the PR & Marketing Coordinator. She has spent the majority of her professional career working on behalf of nonprofits, including the Nebraska Trucking Association, the National Roller Skating Association, YWCA of Omaha, the Omaha Community Playhouse’s Nebraska Theatre Caravan, and the Knights of Aksarben Foundation.
During her time at CSI, Sandy has used her creative gifts to tell the heartfelt true stories of children who have suffered yet succeeded, as well as inspiring accounts of the selfless and compassionate work of CSI’s dedicated staff. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.

Tammy is the Executive Administrative Assistant and Facilities Supervisor. She has been with CSI since 2000 as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President and CEO and has over 25 years of experience in an administrative assistant role. In 2008 she assumed the additional responsibility for all of CSI’s facilities, properties and vehicles as the Facilities Supervisor. Tammy strives to maintain CSI’s assets in the best condition possible while still being cost efficient.

Amy R. Rudolph
Amy joined Child Saving Institute in June 2009 as a client database assistant before being promoted to Continual Quality Improvement Coordinator and Client Database Administrator in January 2010. Prior to CSI, Amy worked as a Project Manager for a financial services company for 13 years, where she planned and executed information technology projects and developed methodologies to improve the quality of project results. Amy is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
