Therapeutic Childcare

CSI's Therapeutic Childcare program is designed to address the emotional and behavioral needs of children ages 3 to 5. Many children experience difficult adjustment periods and are unsure of how to express their fears, sadness, or anger. CSI's hope is to address the emotional and behavioral challenges faced by children while they are young, so their school-age years can be less stressful. The therapy services are individualized to focus on each child’s and family’s strengths.

Through individual play therapy, small group sessions, home visits, consultation with childcare teachers, and family sessions, specific problems are identified and effective interventions and responses are implemented. Always, the goal is the healthy social and emotional development of each individual child.

Jared was 4-years-old when his childcare center referred him to Therapeutic Childcare due to aggressive outbursts toward children and staff. Jared had difficulty interacting with other children and preferred to play alone. In play therapy sessions, Jared demonstrated the abuse that he witnessed during the first years of his life. His father was abusive and controlling of him and his mother. With his mother’s dedication to provide a consistent loving home, and the identifying the processing of the abuse through play and art therapy, Jared is now able to play with other children and communicate his feelings. Jared is now doing very well in kindergarten. Jared is an example of the benefits gained from early intervention.
