Therapy and Support
Intensive Family Preservation
CSI’s Treasuring Families program provides intensive, home-based family preservation services to families involved in the Child Protective Services system. Family support and therapy are provided for a period of time to families who have had children removed from their homes due to abuse/neglect issues and are working toward reunification, or to families at risk of having children removed from their homes.
“Tammy” is a 28-year-old single mother. She was referred to Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) in May 2005 due to allegations of drug use, selling food stamps for drugs, and child abuse and neglect. Her two children were ages 6-months and 9-years-old. Tammy and her children started with an IFP team for 15 weeks. Throughout treatment, Tammy stayed clean and sober, enrolled in college, and sought employment. She rebuilt her relationships with her children and has learned effective parenting skills. Tammy said her bond with her children has improved and she has decreased symptoms of depression. When the IFP services ended, she and her oldest child continued in outpatient therapy. Tammy is presently employed full-time and independent from public assistance. She attends school part-time and remains clean and sober.
