Parenting Education
Before a person is licensed to drive a car, they are provided with training, instruction, safe driving classes, or the assistance of a family mentor who teaches the young person the complexities of managing a car. This same expectation does not exist for the task of parenting. All of us can become a parent without any training, instruction, safe parenting classes, or teaching. At CSI, we belive that all new parents benefit from good training on the complexities of being a parent.
CSI's adult parent education 10-week workshop provides parenting class instruction to parents of all ages. Each parenting class cycle includes training on the following topics:
- Healthy Communication Skills
- Child Development
- Child Discipline
- Stress Management
- Literacy
- Promoting Self-Esteem
Cost is based on a sliding fee scale. If a couple attends class together, one registration fee is reduced by 50%.
